*1966 Chevrolet Impala SS 427*The Impala has long been one of Chevrolet's most iconic model lines, and in the 1960s, it was at its peak. In 1965, Chevrolet ushered in the 4th generation of the car, featuring a boxier, more muscular design for the full size chassis, and was looked upon as a junior Cadillac'' in the Chevrolet range. This 1966 Impala SS 427 was the ultimate in performance that you could get at the time, and has been comprehensively gone through to give it even better performance and modern conveniences. With over $50,000 in receipts, this resto-mod Impala looks largely standard from the outside but is incredible to operate from behind the wheel.Photos have difficult time doing this sensational Impala justice. Finished in sinister Black show paint, the entire car received a body off restoration under prior ownership, at which time the entire frame was powder coated. Upon the consignor purchasing the car in 2022, it was sent to Chris Holstrom Concepts in Puyallup, WA who spent considerable time getting the body laser straight, before laying down the stunning black paint seen today. While at the shop, the suspension was completely swapped out with Ridetech coilovers and moder Forgeline OE1 wheels that look like the original steel wheels that would have come on the car. These wheels are sized up to accept modern tires - 18x7 inches up front and 20x8.5 in the rear- and are topped off by a set of dog dish hubcaps and Redline tires. The overall look of the car from the outside is stunning - not overtly custom, but everything looks just right. The interior is the perfect compliment to the all black exterior - wrapped in red vinyl with red carpets, the inside looks largely stock. A pair of bucket seats are situated up front, with a large bench in the rear, and the aluminum-faced center console extends from the fire wall down between the two front seats, giving a cockpit-like feeling up front. Although things look original, there are some modern updates. A tilt steering column has been fitted, along with Dakota Digital gauge cluster and a Pioneer stereo with a custom sub enclosure in the trunk. As this was originally specified as an SS 427, it represented the ultimate in power and performance in a full size Chevrolet chassis. But that just wasn't quite enough to satisfy the previous owners. In place of that 427 sits a 454ci big block that has been built with 10:1 compression, 4bbl carburetor with Edelbrock intake and custom 3-inch stainless exhaust with Flowmasters. The result is an extremely potent car that is happy to spin the tires all day, with power being sent to the rear wheels via a 12-bolt rear end with Posi-traction. When this power is paired to the Ridetech suspension, it makes for a muscle car that still can tackle turns with ease and is so much fun to hustle on a back road. The 4th generation Impala is a particularly iconic design made all the better by the host of upgrades carried out on this example. If you want a comfortable muscle car that has surprising power and comfort, this Impala SS is a classic that really checks all the boxes.*Key Features* * 454ci V8 * 10:1 Compression * Edelbrock Intake * 4BBL Carburetor * Chrome Valve Covers * Aluminum Radiator * 12-Bolt Rear End * Posi-Traction LSD * Power Disc Brakes * Power Steering * Ridetech Suspension w/Coilovers * 3-Piece Forgeline OE1 Wheels * 18X7 Front * 20X8.5 Rear * Dog Dish Hubcaps * Redline Tires * Pioneer Audio * Custom Sub Box * Dakota Gauge Cluster * Powder Coated Frame*Additional Information* * Original Service Booklet w/Protect-O-Plate * $50,000+ in Receipts on FileFor more information on this 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS 427 or any of our 150+ High-Performance, Exotic, Luxury, and Special Interest Cars always in stock, contact one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales consultants or feel free to drop by our 40,000+ sq ft of Indoor Showrooms in Bellevue, WA - Home of an Exciting Inventory of Luxury, Exotic, High Performance and Collectible Automobiles.
