Porsche launched the 912 in 1965 as an alternative to the more robust 6-cylinder 911. By offering the same body style with a smaller 4-cylinder engine, the 912 was marketed as a more accessible entry-level offering from Stuttgart. While having less power than the 911, the 912 carried less weight and remained a well-balanced automobile with excellent road manners. An original California-delivery example, this 912 stayed in the care of its original San Rafael owner for the majority of its life. It was then purchased by a German collector, when it was exported and kept as part of a private collection. Ultimately, this charming piece of Porsche history was then returned to the U.S. with its care entrusted to Autosport Designs. This 912 is in wonderfully honest preserved condition.
